  • Do you accept insurance?
Our clinic operates out-of-network, meaning we are not contracted with any insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid. However, this doesn't mean you have no coverage. Each insurance company has its own out-of-network policy, so you'll need to check with your provider to understand your out-of-network benefits and reimbursement requirements. Services like Reimbursify can simplify this process for you. If you would like a super bill, please ask at checkout and we will email an itemized bill for those interested in insurance reimbursement to independently submit to your insurance company. We offer appointment packages starting at $157 per appointment. After your initial evaluation or consultation, you can choose a package that fits your budget. These packages can be used for various treatments, performance and nutrition coaching, and technique analysis, both for in-person and online appointments. If you are already a patient at our clinic, you can email us at sandra@theswimmersdoc.com to purchase a package.
  • How are you different from other physical therapists?
Physical therapy is often misunderstood as a specific treatment or modality. Many people think it involves a combination of massage, exercises, taping or cupping, and finishing with a hot or ice pack. Many insurance-based clinics operate this way to handle a high patient volume, resulting in a hands-off approach. While you might spend an hour or more at the clinic, your actual time with other physical therapist is often just 15-30 minutes. However, when you look at what the provider is billing your insurance, you'll notice they are charging for more time than you spent with the therapist. We're here to change that perception and redefine the role of physical therapy for you. Physical therapy, or physiotherapy as it's known worldwide, is not a mere service but a healthcare discipline specializing in the rehabilitation of the neuromusculoskeletal system. A physical therapist (PT) is highly trained in movement science to examine, evaluate, and treat individuals who are injured, looking to reduce their risk of injury, or seeking to improve their functional capacity. Each PT may have a different approach, but they should use their clinical judgment to create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific impairments and limitations. This shouldn't resemble a factory of patients lying on tables with ice packs; instead, it should foster a healthy relationship where providers offer their best care, and patients are satisfied and improving! For triathletes and swimmers, you want a provider who understands your sport, the training capacity you are required to perform, and the physical, mental and emotional demands that are required for performance optimization. As our patient, you will receive in-depth technique analyses of your stroke as well as a holistic approach to your health and performance.
  • What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
To cancel or reschedule your appointment, you must notify us at least 24 hours in advance. You can do so by emailing, texting, or calling. In the event that you are unable to keep an appointment, please contact us as quickly as possible. We request cancellation or rescheduling 24 hours prior to visits to allow other patients to have access to that treatment time. Visits that are cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the visit time, or are not cancelled at all will be billed $100 due to scheduling inconveniences. E-mail, phone call, or text are all suitable means to communicate visit cancellation if the message is sent 24 hours prior to the visit start time.
  • How do I get started and schedule an appointment?
To start, you can decide between scheduling a 90- or 60-minute evaluation or a 30-minute consultation online or in-person. The Sports & Orthopedic Evaluation comprises a comprehensive review of your health history, an examination, and the development of a detailed care plan designed to address your sports and orthopedic health concerns. During a 90-minute evaluation, your physiotherapist will: — Take ample time to listen to your story, understand your concerns, and address any questions or apprehensions you may have. — Conduct a thorough health exam of the involved region, as well as a full body assessment which could include range of motion, strength testing, and flexibility of your upper and lower body and trunk. — Conduct video analysis of your stroke technique. — Discuss the assessment of any findings. — Work collaboratively with you to set personalized goals and develop a comprehensive plan of care that addresses your specific needs. Prior to your appointment, you may be asked to upload in-app video footage of your swimming technique. The Sports & Orthopedic Consultation is a conversation that helps you decide if our clinic or therapy is right for you. During a consultation, you’ll: — Share a brief summary of your concerns. — Ask questions about your injury or condition and potential treatment options. — Learn about various treatment and coaching options and how our clinic uniquely brings together exercise prescription, technique analysis, mindset and nutrition coaching. — Receive advice based on your unique situation. Please note that a consultation doesn't establish a patient relationship and we will not be able to diagnose or create a comprehensive treatment plan during a consultation. If you’d like longer than 30 minutes to discuss you concerns, you can schedule an extended consultation here, email us at sandra@theswimmersdoc.com.
  • How long are appointments?
The initial sports & orthopedic evaluation is up to 90 minutes. Follow-up appointments range from 50-60 minutes. If the complexity of your health concerns requires more time, a session may be extended to better support your needs. Should a session extend beyond its scheduled time by 15 minutes or more, the additional time will be prorated based on the session rate. If you have a tight schedule or financial concerns about this policy, please inform us before your session so we can accommodate your situation.
  • How much do appointments cost?
An initial 90 minutes sports evaluation is $275. An initial 60 minutes orthopedic evaluation is $225. A single 60 minutes follow-up appointment is $179. Sessions may be extended, depending upon the complexity of your health concerns. If a session extends beyond its scheduled time for longer than 15 minutes, an additional prorated fee, based on the session rate, will be incurred. We value and believe in the power of a holistic approach. That’s why we offer discounted wellness packages to help you put your care plan into action. Wellness packages can include: physical therapy, performance coaching, strength and personal training, nutrition coaching, and technique analysis. A shared decision making process with your physiotherapist is used to determine which combination of services are right for you. Wellness packages may be used for both in-person and online services. Enrollment in wellness packages are available after an initial sports or orthopedic evaluation or 30 minutes consultation. Wellness packages are non-transferable and non-refundable. They expire one year after purchase. Wellness package 1: 6 sessions discounted @ $167/appointment $1,002 ($72 off) Wellness package 2: 12 sessions discounted @ $157/appointment $1,884 ($264 off)
  • Can I pay with my HSA/FSA card?
Yes! We gladly accept Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for physical therapy care. You can pay using your HSA or FSA debit card or submit your invoices to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. Remember, FSAs often expire at the end of the year, so make sure to use your funds before they do!
  • Why are you out-of-network?
Insurance companies often dictate patients' plan of care and treatment options, limiting our patients' recovery potential, extending their recovery timeline, and costing our patients more than they would otherwise need to pay for our care. At Hybrid Performance and Physiotherapy, our focus is to provide evidence-based practice and care, expansive and holistic treatment and coaching options to allow for you to optimize your recovery experience as quickly as possible so you can return to your sport. We integrate various tools such as stroke technique analyses to determine the root cause of an athlete's injury to aid in recovery, wellness, performance, and injury prevention. Since insurance companies only allow for one condition to be treated at a time, we as Hybrid Performance and Physiotherapy would be limited in our ability to provide comprehensive and holistic care that would allow us to evaluate and assess you as an entire person and athlete.
  • How many sessions will I need?
Our clinic does not set a generic number of sessions. Your health blueprint is unique and we believe in an individualized care plan based on your specific needs, goals, and resources. After your initial evaluation, we will discuss an approximate number of sessions that are informed by the complexity of your health concern.
  • Do I need a referral or prescription from my doctor?
No. You do not need to see your Primary Care Provider to get started.
  • Can I use my HSA/FSA for performance and nutrition coaching subscriptions?
In general, qualifying healthcare expenses include the cost of treatment or prevention of disease. If you believe an exercise program or nutrition guidance, such as what we offer, would benefit your medical condition, we recommend discussing this with your physician. They may provide you with a Letter of Medical Necessity.
